This backyard had a lot going on - a new pool, fresh plantings, and bare dirt just about everywhere else. When a yard gets torn up during construction, the bare soil left behind isn't just an eyesore. It erodes, it tracks into the house, and it makes an otherwise nice outdoor space feel unfinished. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

We laid fresh sod in the usable lawn area between the house and the pool. The goal was to give the space a defined green zone that would anchor the whole backyard. You can see how clearly it separates the planted beds from the open lawn - that contrast matters. It gives the yard structure instead of just looking like a work in progress.

Around the pool, the plantings are already doing a lot of heavy lifting. Fan palms, small evergreens, and shrub rows along the house foundation add layers to the landscape. Sod alone wouldn't complete a yard like this - it's the combination of turf and plant material together that makes it feel intentional and designed rather than patched together.

We work on a lot of properties in the Hixson area where pool builds and new construction leave the surrounding landscape in rough shape. Getting the sod down right - good soil contact, clean edges, proper moisture retention - is what determines whether it roots well or dries out and dies. We don't rush that part.
