Laying Down the Groundwork

Tight side yards are some of the trickiest spots to work in. There's not much room to maneuver, and if you're not careful, you can tear up fencing, damage the home's foundation line, or leave a real mess behind. This job was a good example of that challenge.

We brought in a compact excavator to cut a clean trench along the length of the side yard - right between the privacy fence and the house. The machine did the heavy lifting, but you still need a person in there with a shovel to clean up the edges and keep everything tight. That's exactly what you're seeing here.

The clay-heavy Georgia soil in this area doesn't make it easy. It packs hard and doesn't break apart cleanly, which is why the right equipment matters. A compact machine in a confined run like this keeps disruption minimal without sacrificing the depth you need to properly route irrigation lines.

What we end up with is a clean, deep trench ready to accept irrigation pipe - routed in a way that protects it from foot traffic and seasonal ground movement. No shortcuts, no guesswork. The work is done right the first time so you're not digging it back up a year later.

Jobs like this are pretty common across Ringgold and the surrounding areas. Lots of newer homes with tight lot lines and side yards that still need full irrigation coverage. We've learned how to get in, get it done, and get out without leaving a disaster behind.
