Fence repairs and replacements don't always mean tearing everything out and starting over. Sometimes a section fails before the rest does - whether it's from rot, storm damage, or just years of wear - and the smart move is replacing that section while preserving what still has life in it.

That's exactly what we were working with here. The existing fence had a solid stretch of weathered wood that was still doing its job. One section, though, needed to go. We pulled it out and put in new treated lumber that matches the style of the original - same dog-ear board pattern, same fence line, clean post spacing throughout.

The color difference between old and new wood is totally normal and expected. Treated lumber starts out bright and golden, and it weathers down over time to match the surrounding boards. A lot of homeowners in Ringgold, GA ask about that - and the short answer is, give it a season and it blends right in.

We also made sure the new section was plumb and properly set into the ground. That's where a lot of DIY fence work falls short. Posts that aren't set deep enough or aren't truly vertical will start to lean within a year or two. We don't cut corners on the foundation of the fence - because that's what determines how long the whole thing holds up.

Whether you've got one bad section or a fence that needs a full overhaul, the process starts the same way - with a good look at what's there and an honest assessment of what actually needs to be done.
